Teak
Teak is a very hard and extremely durable wood, it’s probably the toughest out there, and it comes from mainly South East Asia and was used for building boats and other large vessels such as transportation rafts. Teak wood has built in protection with its natural oils which stand up to the toughest weather conditions on land or at sea.
So now we have a little background about teak let’s discuss why this wood has become so popular in the garden and home. Let’s start with teak garden furniture this is the wood of choice for many gardens due to its strength and ability to last years without much attention. Normally the only attention you would give to teak garden furniture would be a quick clean now and then and also you could add some teak oil to the wood to prevent it from drying over the years, this does not mean that the teak garden furniture will look dull and blemished but it will just bring back that natural shine it had when you acquired it.
teak garden furniture comes in a wide variedly of shapes and sizes, the most popular being sun loungers because normally sun loungers are used next to a pool and this would be the best wood of choice, to stand up to the continuous drenching of the pool water and drying of the strong sun, as explained earlier this wood can withstand large amounts of water without any weakening of the structure.
There are ways in which you can take care of teak garden furniture even though it may not need it, there are different wood stains you can use to darken its colour to match its surroundings such as oils and varnishes, but personally I prefer teak garden furniture to be in its natural state, as all teak furniture should be.
